TomTom and Renault Update Embedded Navigation
12.04.2009

Driving has just taken a turn for the better. TomTom and Renault have partnered to change the world of embedded navigation by introducing the world's first feature upgrade. No longer do drivers have to replace the entire embedded navigation system; now, Carminat TomTom users can drive safer, smarter, and better just by downloading the new GPS features.

Advanced lane guidance, clearly alerting drivers of junctions and multiple lanes, and the fastest routes possible, detected by using millions of TomTom drivers' experiences, are imported using the system's SD card drive and the free desktop software application (TomTom Home).

“Now users of Carminat TomTom can have smarter and safer routing by easily downloading the features themselves - a first in the automotive industry,” said Giles Shrimpton, Tom Tom’s Managing Director Automotive. “This is an important milestone in our ongoing drive to help the automotive industry meet the needs of its customers.”
