Canon Introduces Two New Digital Cameras the PowerShot G12 and the PowerShot SX30 IS
09.14.2010
Canon U.S.A. today announced the introduction of two impressive new point-and-shoot digital cameras, the PowerShot G12 and the PowerShot SX30 IS. Both models are directed towards allowing camera aficionado's to further develop their photographic capabilities. With the announced release of these two new PowerShot models Canon further strengthens its role as a leader in the digital camera marketplace.
The Canon PowerShot G12 is an update of last years, PowerShot G11. The most notable addition from previous G series cameras is the 720p HD video recording capabilities. The G12 will use Canon's High Sensitivity system which helps to produce stunning quality images in low-light conditions. The G12 will also include a tilting 2.8 inch vari-angle LCD with 461,000 dots of resolution, DIGIC 4 image processor, 10 megapixel CCD sensor and a 5x optical zoom with range equivalent to 28-140mm.
The Canon PowerShot SX30 IS takes the place of the SX20 IS super-zoom. Its most prominent feature is its groundbreaking 35x wide-angle zoom lens, the longest zoom range available today in any super zoom camera. It covers a zoom range of 24-840mm equivalent f/2.7-5.8 wide-angle 35x zoom lens. The camera uses a 14.1 megapixel sensor inside the camera and it uses the same DIGIC 4 image processor as the G12. The SX30 IS also records 720p resolution video and can use the full 35x zoom range in video and photo modes. The Canon SX30 IS has a larger 2.7 inch vari-angle tilting rear LCD panel for Live View shooting, versus the 2.5 inch in its predecessor. An additional noticeable change is that the Canon SX30 uses a custom lithium-ion battery pack, rather than the four AA cells of the SX20 and other PowerShot ultra-zoom cameras.
The PowerShot SX30 IS will be available in late September with an estimated list price of $429.99 and the PowerShot G12 will be available in early December with an estimated list price of $499.99.
