Nikon To Release Performance Focused P510 Super-Zoom and P310 Super Low-Light Performer

Nikon has announced the release of two new P-Series, advanced compact, digital cameras. The Coolpix P510, with its class-leading 42x super-zoom and the Coolpix P310, a super low-light performer offering a maximum aperture of F/1.8.

Both new Coolpix P-Series cameras feature a 16.1-megapixel Backside Illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor and Nikon's EXPEED C2 digital image processing engine ensuring superior performance and image quality. Both cameras also include the same 3-inch, 921k-dot TFT LCD monitor and offer Coolpix Picture Control enabling users to optimize the vividness of colors and degree of sharpening applied to images prior to shooting.

The Coolpix P510 is equipped with the highest zoom ratio for any fixed lens point-and-shoot. The 42x Nikkor optically stabilized lens starts at a wide 24mm and goes all the way to 1,000mm which is full-frame equivalent.  Additional notable features include 5fps burst shooting, integrated GPS, full HD 1080p video recording with stereo sound, and continuous auto-focus even in movie mode.

The Coolpix P310 main focus is low-light performance, it's 4.2x 24-100mm f/1.8 optically stabilized NIKKOR zoom lens is fast and bright offering an expandable ISO setting equivalent to 6400. Additional notable features include full manual exposure control including P/S/A/M modes, full HD video recording, and a zoom memory function that offers easy access to common prime focal lengths. Additionally, the P310 includes night-specific shooting modes such as the Advanced Night Shooting mode that combines two images, one with a flash and one without to beautifully merge subjects and backgrounds.   

Both cameras will be available sometime in February. The P510 will be priced at $429.00 and the P310 will be available for $329.95.
