Nikon Announces the Release of the New AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens
04.28.2011

Nikon has just announced their newest lens, the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G compact lens. This lens takes the classic 50mm focal length and adds to it Nikon's latest cutting-edge technologies. Compatible with both Nikon's DX and FX format DSLRs, this lens is both exceptionally compact and lightweight making it a great carry-around lens. This lens built-in auto focus (AF-S) uses Nikon's exclusive Silent Wave Motor (SWM) providing smoother and faster focusing while remaining virtually silent.  This f/1.8 prime lens is perfect for low light environments and is great for portraits or any situation where a shallow depth of field is required.

The AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G lens is scheduled to be released on June 16, 2011 at an estimated price of $219.95.
