JVC to Release the GC-PX1, a Mold Breaking High Speed Camera Hybrid
02.03.2011

The JVC GC-PX1 was first introduced as a concept at this year’s CES, but this concept will soon become a reality when it is released in Japan later this month. The GC-PX1 is touted as the hybrid that brings together the best of both the video and still photography worlds. Powered by JVC's new FalconBird Image processor, the GC-PX1 can shoot 1080p video at a very fast 60 frames per second, reaching a peak 36Mbps bandwidth quality. Furthermore, with its 10.6 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor and full manual controls, JVC claims it can produce still images on par with DSLRs. While the body of the GC-PX1 may be incredibly slim and sleek, its lens, which looks like an attached camcorder, adds a hefty bulk to its presence. The lens is a 38.5-385mm equivalent f2.8-4.5 10x zoom, image stabilizing Konica-Minolta lens. Additional features for the GC-PX1 include a 3" tilting touch-screen display, 32GB internal memory and additional SDXC memory card slot, up to ISO 6400, and many more incredible features.
